Iakopo hoping for a ‘Supernatural‘ hit
HAWAII-BASED, American reggae artiste Iakopo said he is hoping to break into the western reggae market with his new single Supernatural.
The single was produced by Gramps Morgan of sibling group Morgan Heritage Band on DADA Son Entertainment imprint. It is available on iTunes for pre-order.
Speaking about his single, the singer said the track genuinely encompasses the sweet sound of reggae upon the first chord.
“The title says it all, love, life, recording in Jamaica, working with Gramps, the whole experience is supernatural,” he said.
Morgan was also thrilled to worked with the international entertainer.
“I chose to work with Iakopo because I believe he represents something very special and has a very unique sound to his vocals that I found very interesting, so when he contacted me and I listened his music from the past, I knew where I could take the project for the future,” said Morgan.
Iakopo, whose given name is Jacob Scott, was born in California in 1980.
He was sent to the all boys facility, Paradise Cove Academy in Western Samoa, Hawaii. After graduating high school in 2000, Iakopo left Samoa and returned to the US. Iakopo started making demos, as well as selling mixtapes on the streets of cities across America. In 2006, he released his debut album called Let Your Light Shine. The title track and Love Jah made it to the top of reggae charts in the US, Hawaii, Polynesia, Asia and Europe. Other albums followed including Born To Win (2009) and One Forever (2014).
