Waterhouse coach not bothered by team’s habit of chasing the game
Waterhouse recovered from a goal down after four minutes to beat Cavalier 3-1 and move to within two points of leaders Arnett Gardens in the Red Stripe Premier League at Drewsland on Sunday. Waterhouse, after falling behind on a fourth-minute strike from Al Nesbeth, redoubled their efforts forthwith and then equalised through Evan Taylor.
A minute later Jermaine ‘Tuffy’ Anderson set Waterhouse on the path to victory with eight minutes remaining in the half. Second-half substitute Andre Leslie then made the points safe for Waterhouse a minute from time. Waterhouse were once again falling behind their opponents in consecutive games, but each time recovered to win. This was not seen as much of a bother to coach Anthony Patrick. “We played without a number of our first-team starters and once again came up victorious.
This is not so much of a bad thing. It probably just only goes to show the depth of strength that resides within the fabric of the team and from here we can only grow from strength to strength and get better through effort,” Patrick added. Cavalier president, Rudolph Spied, said he was disappointed with certain aspects of the goalkeeping of Devon Haughton, especially with the first and third goals.
“These are glaring goalkeeper blunders that cannot be repeated too often, (especially) at this crucial stage of the competition where each team is at pains to remain among the top six places of competition,” he said.
