Old England out front in Manchester Div One
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Old England continue to set the pace in the Jamalco/Manchester FA Division One, blanking DC Strikers 2-0 on Sunday for a third successive victory in the competition.
Kemar Anderson (10th) and Julian Bell (21st) were the goalscorers for Old England, who widened their gap at the top of Zone Two to five points.
Second place is now occupied by 360° Academy on goal difference, after the Courtney Jackson-conditioned outfit joined two other teams, Mandeville United and Starz Academy, on four points following their 0-0 stalemate with Clandon Strikers at Long Pond.
Meanwhile, Starz Academy won for the first time this season after emerging 2-1 victors over NCU President’s XI at the Porus Community Centre.
Kareem Moulton opened the scoring for Starz on 12 minutes, before Richard Thorpe levelled for NCU in the 36th minute.
Shanniel Givans then secured the three points for the hosts with a 72nd-minute effort.
In Zone One, Plowden rebounded from their opening day defeat to Technical Strikers to flog Hope Village 9-0 at the Comfort Community Centre on Saturday. Kemar Griffiths and Rohan Lindsay led the way for Plowden with four goals each, while Dennis Lindsay added the ninth.
Elsewhere, Strikers stayed on top of the group with four points, despite ending goalless with Lyndhurst Luminaries at Mile Gully, while Demar Senior scored twice to give Land Settlement a 2-1 win over Star Zone.
