Holland eye top spot in St Elizabeth Major League
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — Holland PYC will resume their pursuit of top spot in the St Elizabeth Wray and Nephew Major League when return-round action continues this evening with two games.
Second-placed Holland, on 30 points, host second-from-bottom Santa FC (10) in the first game of the New Holland double-header, which is set for a 1:30 pm kick-off.
In the feature contest, Super Action Youth Club (sixth) oppose Newell United (eighth) at 3:30.
Since the beginning of the second round, Holland have taken 13 from a possible 15 points, but, at the end of Match Day 16, they still trailed league leaders Appleton Estate by a point.
Appleton were scheduled to play fourth-placed Real Treasure Beach (21) on Saturday. And irrespective of that result, Holland will approach today’s game with victory on their minds, knowing a crucial clash with Appleton in the last game of the regular season means that they have destiny in their own hands.
Should Holland win their four remaining games, including this one against relegation-threatened Santa, they will finish the preliminary round at the top of the points standing.
