Walking club mixes it up
BODY by Kurt Walking Club yesterday kicked their fitness tempo up a notch when they showed up before daybreak at Up Park Camp in St Andrew, for what turned out to be a sweat-inducing but energising workout.
The man behind Body by Kurt, Kurt Dunn, told the Jamaica Observer that approaching the first anniversary of the walking club, he decided to mix things up a bit to incorporate other activities that are also fitness centred.
The walking club members got their fill of a rigorous workout with a few opting to run the cross country route at the location that took them across the wide expanse of the Jamaica Defence Force base and others opting to walk just under five kilometres on a less rigorous terrain. This did not prevent the group from converging after these separate stints to put their strength, endurance and agility to the test as they bolted up and down stairs and inclines.
According to Dunn, he is trying to foster the development of a fighting spirit in the club members who have been doing well as road races even without a targeted approach to training for road races. He hinted at how much better members can do if they actually train for these races.
Your Health Your Wealth joined the group and everyone seemed pleased that their routine Saturday morning workout was modified to make it more exciting.
The club members seemed more energised after their workout some one and a half hours later, when the sun was up and they were literally dripping wet.
