Boscobel, Port Maria clash in St Mary T20 Big Bash
Defending champions Boscobel will clash with high-riding Port Maria in the feature match of the St Mary Cricket Association Maurice Clarke T20 Big Bash at Three Hills Oval today.
Match time is 9:30 am.
The champs will be led by in-form opener Alwayne Williams, fresh off a match-winning century last week. He will be ably supported by fellow opener Domain Wilson, along with Robert Ware and bowlers Herman Henry and Andaine Bennett.
Port Maria will be relying on national wicketkeeper batsman Aldane Thomas, as well as Richard Creary. Thomas, in particular, is expected to be the man to carry the burden if they hope to upset the bang-in-form champs.
In other matches scheduled for today, Sandals/Beaches Ocho Rios will seek to rebound from last week’s loss to Port Maria, against the home town team Three Hills at the same venue starting at 1:30 pm. The hotel men will be led by exciting stroke players Michael Downer, Jessi Alexander, Raheem and Samuel McIntosh, against the favoured Three Hills team.
Also in Zone One, Oxford will be up against Days Mountain in the opening game, while Top Pen and Jack’s Hill clash in the feature match at Top Pen. Oxford will expect Fitzroy Howell and Timone Haye to lead from the front.
In Zone Two, Mango Valley meet White Hall at 9:30 and Wilderness will be looking to drub Trinity Land in the second match at Wilderness. Top player for White Hall is the hard-hitting Kevin Gray.
Wilderness possess a strong batting line-up with Andre Bryce, who scored 158 last week, the main player supported by Renae Ross. Damion Graham and Leon McDonald are the mainstay of the Trinity Land team.
The competition is sponsored by LP Martin Funeral Home, Braham Service Station and Beaches Ocho Rios.
President of the St Mary Cricket Association Leston Pinnock said he was pleased with the standard of play displayed in the opening round of matches last week.
“We are happy with the way things have started and all the games were exciting. We are just calling on the players to maintain their level of discipline as we seek to move St Mary cricket forward,” Pinnock noted.
