Delacree Lane businessman killed by police identified
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The police have revealed the identity of a businessman whose death sparked a protest in the community of Delacree Lane, Kingston early Saturday morning.
According to the police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the businessman, 37-year-old Richard Hutchinson otherwise called ‘Machell’, was fatally shot during a confrontation with the police in the community on Friday.
One .380 Smith and Wesson semi-automatic pistol with one .380 cartridge and one 12-guage shotgun were also reportedly seized.
The matter has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), CCU says.
