Spotlight on teachers at Poetry in Motion
THE 12th Poetry in Motion show takes place today at Manchester Golf Club in Mandeville.
This year’s event is dedicated to the Jamaican teacher and student.
“Consistent with this focus (education), Poetry in Motion will present a monetary contribution to our designated annual charity, which for this year is Gilbert and Georgia Allen Educational Trust,” founder/organiser Yasus Afari said in a statement.
Through sponsorship from Jamaica National Building Society and Irie Life Anguilla, organisers will host 48 teachers and students from 12 schools in Clarendon, St Elizabeth and Manchester. These are: Belair High, DeCarteret College, Bishop Gibson High, Manchester High, Mandeville Primary and Junior High, Spalding High, BB Coke Comprehensive High, Nothern Caribbean University, Church Teacher’s College, Bethlehem Moravian Teacher’s College, Catholic College of Mandeville and St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS).
The sponsorship, Afari noted, is timely.
“It allows students and teachers to freely benefit from the entire spectrum of the creative and performing arts,” said Afari.
