Portmore, Dunbeholden seek wins in St Catherine leagues
SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine — Action in the St Catherine FA Major League continues today, with recently crowned mid-season champions Portmore United looking to preserve their unbeaten start to the competition.
The title favourites will play away to GC Foster FC at the GC Foster College in Angels.
Two other games, all set for 3:30 pm kick-offs, will be contested over the weekend, with beaten mid-season finalists Tru-Juice meeting New Raiders at the Spanish Town Prison Oval and Naggo Head travelling to Portsmouth on Saturday.
Tomorrow, Old Harbour Bay host Albion at Marlie Mount, while Royal Lakes play away to Dela Vega City.
Having played two games fewer than most of the competition, Portmore currently lie second in the table on 16 points and are therefore looking to gain ground on the leaders with victory over the promoted GC Foster.
The college students, on 13 points after eight games, are themselves hoping to revive their semi-final hopes.
Meanwhile, in Division One, Dunbeholden FC will attempt to keep the momentum of their mid-season title success going when they travel to Cheesefield for a date with seventh-placed Benbow United (10 points).
The Loxley Thomas-coached team (14) has been inactive since clipping Federal FC 1-0 to claim half-term honours last Friday.
Elsewhere, Federal United play East Portmore Portals at Greater Portmore, Watson Grove tackle Bodles at Watson Grove, Travellers meet Flamingo at Cheesefield and Cumberland host McCooks Pen at Cumberland.
