Refined style
Young fashion designer Brian Ingleton, more locally know as Brian Hauser (BH) will prove to be a name to remember in the coming years.
Ever since he founded his clothing line in August 2013, he has been busy developing his own style of luxury street wear for males and females that are a breath of fresh air in the Jamaican market.
This Ardenne High School graduate says life, music, games, nature, etc underpin his passion for design.
His designs have been recently showed at The City of Fashion Festival and Trade Show at the Giscombe’s Gym and Wellness Centre.
Ingleton, 20, told teenAGE how he is able to Make It.
teenAGE: Why did you become a fashion designer?
BH: Well, to be honest, I became a designer because I was tired of seeing people in the same thing all the time. I just thought Jamaican fashion needed a breath of fresh air.
teenAGE: What’s your favourite part about being a fashion designer?
BH: Having my own creative freedom to design anything that comes to mind is my favourite part of being a designer. It’s just a feeling of bliss to see your work come to life.
teenAGE: Was it something you’ve always wanted to do, growing up as a child?
BH: Growing up I wanted to be an animator. I still do. I just love the arts — whether visual, graphic or fashion, so I just branched off into fashion.
teenAGE: Did you find it hard to branch out and make your designs known?
BH: Yes I most certainly did, and still find it hard for many reasons. The main one being the lack of resources here in Jamaica.
teenAGE: If you had the choice of all the designers in the world, who would you choose to work with and why?
BH: Ann Demuelermeester, Riccardo Tisci, Tinker Hatfield and Kanye West. Why? Because their work is different and it reflects creative freedom and them just being themselves.
teenAGE: Does your work reflect your personal fashion taste?
BH: It most certainly does. I enjoy reproducing art pieces by my friends or by artists overall and using dark colours to tell a story and to be expressive. In my pieces I mix fine art with fashion to give it a sense of luxury. I also enjoy using snakeskin, leather, etc.
teenAGE: Do you have a good support team?
BH: Yes, I would believe so. My family and friends support me and give me the backbone I need to produce great work and pieces for the general public.
teenAGE: Being a fashion designer, is it important to keep in mind the various fashion trends for a season?
BH: I think it is, but I don’t! Trends die out and no designer wants their designs to die. So I try to make more timeless pieces instead of going with the current trend. When the trend is over, does that mean your brand is over?
teenAGE: What are your plans for the future?
BH: I have a lot for 2015, I guess you would just have to wait and see. But overall I want my brand to become a household brand and I wish to branch off into more luxury pieces.
As CEO, founder and president, Ingleton says Hauser Productions has a lot more to offer for 2015 and we will definitely be looking out. You can find him on Twitter at @Brian_HPG and @HauserProdGroup; on Instagram at @lordhauser and @hauserguarda.
