Christina Pinkney’s Piloxing
CHRISTINA Pinkney’s dancing journey started at age four where at Vaz Prep School, she engaged in the art as an extra curricular activity. Her love for dance subsequently led her to enrol in Saturday and summer dance classes at the Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts, and she joined the troupe at her local church, in high school, and then at Edna Manley College as a full-time dance student.
The experience enabled her to enter several JCDC dance competitions, where she got various awards and certificates, and was given the opportunity to perform in different genres of dance.
Armed with a diploma in dance education and a bachelor of arts degree in dance, Pinkney is now a trained dance educator and choreographer at age 24, offering a unique twist as a dance instructor and choreographer.
Pinkney’s quest to promote dance and fitness motivated her to become a certified Zumba and Zumba Steps instructor as well as a Piloxing instructor through the Florida chapters of accredited fitness institutions. She currently facilitates classes in Zumba fitness at various fitness centres located in Kingston and is now ready to introduce to Jamaica the newest craze in fitness — Piloxing.
Piloxing is cardio fusion which incorporates cutting-ßedge research and fitness techniques to burn maximum calories, build lean muscle and increase stamina.
The Piloxing programme uniquely blends the power, speed and agility of boxing with exhilarating dance moves and targets the sculpting and flexibility of Pilates.
A major strength of this dancer is her unique ability to work well with children from as early as age three. The positive energy Pinkney generates in her classes makes her one of the many sought after professionals in the field.
