The Wright stuff
PRODUCER-turned-dancehall artiste Mr Wright is pleased with the response to his latest single Tear off Clothes.
Produced by the South Florida-based Range Hill Records and released in December, the track has been enjoying strong rotation on local and European airwaves. He said a music video is in the works.
Tear off Clothes has been featured on prominent mix tapes from the likes of DJ Kenny, DJ Wass and DJ Stevens from Costa Rica.
The artiste said he has the goods that the dancehall arena has been missing.
“My style and sound are original. I also offer creativity and lyrical content that’s been lacking in dancehall music,” Wright told the Jamaica Observer.
Born Otis Wright, he grew up in St Elizabeth before relocating to Duhaney Park. He migrated to the United States during his teenage years. Now in his 30s, he hopes to make the breakthrough which many up-and-coming artistes crave.
He has recorded for a number of producers both in Florida and in Jamaica. They include Red Boom, Jay Crazy and Jon ‘FX’ Crawford. Crawford produced his most recent release Friends Dem Mi Worry.
Mr Wright made his production debut in 2006 when he co-produced the Spain Town riddim. His Range Hill Records released the Rock Island riddim in October last year. That project featured Mi Know Mi Fren by Demarco and Take Control by Jah Vinci. Mr. Peppa, Fyal Pal and Laden are among the artistes featured on the project.
The Double Dare riddim is his next project and features a track he recorded as well as acts such as Fyal Pal and DJ Amacon.
