JAZZ AND BLUES – Mixed reviews of night 2
FLORENCE HALL, Trelawny – Patrons attending the second night of Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival had mixed reviews of the event.
Some of those who spoke to OBSERVER ONLINE were impressed with the performance of internationally acclaimed songbird Mariah Carey.
“Mariah Carey was super, she was fabulous. Mariah was just awesome!” Trudy Kidd exclaimed.
Sasha Bailey was in agreement.
“I have been listening to Mariah from I was 15 and she is just fabulous and she is so real, ageless, timeless, fantastic,” Bailey remarked.
Bailey’s friend, Kerese Bruce was indifferent, however.
“Overall the festival has been okay not as good as the year before and the year before that but I can’t complain,” Bruce reacted.
Meanwhile, deejay Tony Rebel was also impressed by the American’s performance, even as he expected more.
“I just came when Mariah was on stage. Mariah did not hit all the notes we know she could have hit, but she put on a good show,” Rebel, who also promotes Rebel Salute said.
Meanwhile, Trelawny music critic, Damion Hibbert expressed his disappointment with Mariah’s performance.
“She did not do a good job. We expected much better from her,” Hibbert remarked.
