Over 2,000 athletes expected at Grace/STETHS Invitational
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — The boys’ Under-17 400m hurdles will be the only new event that will be contested at the 32nd Grace/STETHS Invitational to be held at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex in Santa Cruz today, starting at 9:30 am.
Keith Wellington, principal of St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) and a member of the organising committee, said they were expecting a big turnout and another exciting day of competition.
Wellington said, based on entries they received, they were expecting over 2,000 athletes to take part.
There will be competition in the 100m, 400m, 1,500m in all classes, 400m hurdles open, 4x400m open and distant medley relay open, as well as long jump, high jump and triple jump, shot put, discus throw and javelin.
Among the schools that had submitted entries are Kingston College, Jamaica College, Edwin Allen High, Munro College, Cornwall College, Petersfield High, Herbert Morrison and host STETHS.
