Calabar High are all-island champions for ISSA basketball
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Calabar High were crowned all-island champions of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Under-16 and Under-19 competitions with victories over St Jago High and Herbert Morrison High, respectively, at GC Foster College auditorium here late Friday.
Calabar first outscored St Jago High 36-33 to lift the Under-16 title, after which the Under-19s showed sheer determination to rally past Herbert Morrison 70-67.
The Under-16s were led by Jordan Kellier with eight points, eight rebounds and five steals and Javaughn Taylor, who had eight points, nine rebounds and four assists.
The Red Hills Road-based Calabar High, after trailing in the first three quarters, outshot Herbert Morrison 25-17 in the final quarter to snatch the Under-19 title.
Manchester High won the Under-16 third-place play-off with a 43-26 scoreline over Knox College, while Ardenne High got the better of St Jago High 46-32 to place third in the Under-19 division.
