VIDEO: Party over here
New sponsor LIME hosts the Youth View Awards (YVA) Hype Crew, other sponsors and patrons to a pre-awards party.
The LIME Carlton Store hosted the young, hot and hype and sponsors such as Candy Craze, Pepsi, and KFC Jamaica set up booths to cater to the hundreds, who made the Saturday evening party.
YVAs crew were decked out in their shirts and danced to the crowd’s delight.
Coppershot, Boom Boom, and Chromatic Sound graced the turntables keeping not only the dance crews from LIME, Yellow Pages and the YVA members dancing, but the entire crowd.
Stacious, host for the evening’s proceedings — and the February 21 show — commanded the stage with Ackeem Grace from the YVAs crew.
After the welcome, Stacious called on stage Eva Hype and Armando who placed third in the 2014 On the Verge competition.
The crowd was receptive.
After their short performance, a gentleman from the crowd, claiming to be the original ‘Bop’, took the stage.
His performance, however, failed to get a reaction from the crowd.
DeJour, who is the 2014 winner of the On the Verge talent show, took the stage.
He had the crowd moving to his remixed version of Chris Brown’s Loyal.
After his performance, everyone sang Happy Birthday to him, and he was presented with a cake, goody bags and a brand new phone courtesy of LIME.
Jaheel Hyde entered the pre-party in great style. He drove into the venue in a white BMW convertible and was ushered to the stage.
The LIME dancers kicked off the much-anticipated dance-off.
They danced to Vybz Kartel’s Peanut Shell. Yellow Pages dancers were next in line and they danced to the same song.
The YVAs Hype crew opted to dance Ding Dong’s Syvah.
Of the many dance groups, who showed up at the party, one was chosen and had the opportunity to compete in the dance-off.
Di Colony took the stage and danced to Gully Bop’s Bad Like Me.
The judges for the night — the crowd — were excited by the performances.
They selected the Yellow Pages and Di Colony to proceed to the final round.
It was a stiff competiton between the two dance groups. Yellow Pages danced to Vybz Kartel’s Lunch Box and Di Colony danced to Alkaline’s Ready. Di Colony was chosen as the winners of the night.
Jaheel Hyde was called on stage to choose the lucky winner of the iPhone 6, courtesy of LIME. Brian Moore’s name was chosen from a bag. Hyde, along with two dancers from LIME presented, Moore with his new phone.
Chromatic Sound played hit after hit pleasing the crowd until it was time to call it a night.
