Struggling Barbican delighted with point against Cavalier
Lowly-placed Barbican FC held fifth-placed Cavalier SC to an exciting 0-0 draw in a Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) game at Stadium East on Monday night to the satisfaction of coach Raymond Beckford.
“It was just the result we came for,” the Barbican coach beamed. “We could have lost the game after giving up a penalty, but in the same breath, we too could have won as we also had our chances to score, but like Cavalier, wasted them,” Beckford said.
While the Barbican coach expressed delight with the result that pushed him above the relegation zone on 14 points, Cavalier’s Rudolph Speid was far from amused. “While playing very good football, the missing of goals continues to plague our progress.
“It is a game that we should have won, but as you saw, the two misses by Claudius Blackburn in the first half — one a penalty (and) the other when he struck the cross bar — are indications of how we suffer from not making our goal-scoring opportunities count,” he mourned.
