Keen tussle!
TUCKER, St James — RED hot Montego Bay United will get a chance to avenge their first loss of the Red Stripe Premier League season today, when they welcome leaders Waterhouse FC at WespoW Park in their second round game.
Five points separate the top two teams in the competition, Waterhouse are on 27 after their come-from-behind 2-1 win over promoted Barbican FC on Monday night, while Montego Bay United are on 22 in second place.
Waterhouse had beaten a depleted Montego Bay United team 3-0 in their first-round game back in September.
Montego Bay United are enjoying their best form all season, their first under Spanish coach Carlos Garcia, and will be gunning for their third straight win, coming off a 3-2 win over Reno FC at Frome on Sunday.
The game will also pit the best home team, Montego Bay United against the team with the best away record, Waterhouse.
Montego Bay United have been the most dominant team at home in the first round, going undefeated at WespoW, winning five games and drawing one at the Montego Bay Sports Complex for 16 of their 19 points and 17 goals scored, including 10 in their last three.
Waterhouse have a similar record away from home with five wins and a draw in the first round.
Today, Dino Williams, who has scored in five straight games before he was rested against Reno FC on Sunday, could make his return to the starting line-up to partner Allan Ottey and Omar Gordon.
The Montego Bay United defence will be wary of Montego Bay native Jermaine Anderson who scored both of Waterhouse’s goals on Monday and appeared to be regaining his goal-scoring form.
The teams shared regular season victories last year before Montego Bay United scored a massive 5-2 upset win over Waterhouse in the final, ending their long unbeaten run.
