Clarendon duo score 1-0 wins in RSPL
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Humble Lion moved out of the relegation zone after scoring a 1-0 victory over the regressing Reno FC in mid-week Red Stripe Premier League action at Effortville yesterday.
Narado Brown notched the winner on 32 minutes to give the central-Clarendon side only their third win in 13 games this season.
In the process, Humble Lion have also improved their tally to 11 points, which was good enough to move them off the foot of the table at Boys’ Town’s expense. Boys’ Town, however, can switch places with their relegation rivals should they beat Barbican today.
The defeat means Reno are yet to win a game since lifting the Flow Champions Cup title last month. The Westmoreland-based outfit, who only returned to the top flight this season, remained on 14 points. But more worrying for them is the fact that they have now slipped to ninth in the standings – just three points and two places above the drop zone.
Their spot was taken over by Sporting Central Academy, who clipped Cavalier SC 1-0 at Juici Park to leapfrog Rivoli United in seventh place.
The south-west Clarendon side, now on 17 points, got their goal from Francois Swaby in the 17th minute.
Cavalier, 21 points, are now in danger of slipping out of the top four for the first time this – with Harbour View (19) looking to pounce.
