Meanwhile, the winner in the ladies’ singles category will pocket $60,000 and the runner-up will receive $30,000. All semi-finalists will pocket $15,000 each.
Entries close at 4:30 pm tomorrow.
Oliver Tomlinson, general manager at JN Life Insurance Company Limited, said that his company is proud once again to be on board with TJ.
“The JN Open Tennis Championship is an opportunity for us to showcase the talents of Jamaica’s tennis players across a number of different age groups and categories, while fostering a level of camaraderie that is healthy and beneficial to the growth of the sport. We at Jamaica National Building Society and its subsidiaries in the JN Group continue to put our full support behind this activity as it continues to grow,” Tomlinson said.
President of TJ, John Bailey, welcomed the partnership with JN.
“It is a pleasure to have JN on board once again as we at TJ have been looking forward to this year’s championship and we thank them for their continuous support as well as other sponsors,” he said.
Bailey encouraged the females to get more involved in the sport as opportunities are boundless.
“The top three women earning athletes in the entire world come from tennis, and so I am encouraging our ladies to play more tennis as there are opportunities in getting scholarships to go to the United States and that means ‘big bucks’, so my message to you ladies is to play tennis and more tennis,” he ended.
