Laff It Off returns
OLIVE Mair’s Comedy Revue Laff It Off returns for a limited four-week run from December 26 to January 18, at the Theatre Place in New Kingston.
Laff It Off was Oliver Mair’s successful return to the theatre scene as a playwright/producer and actor. The show, featured a number of skits, music and dance numbers that poked fun at a topical Jamaican issues and personalities including politicians, entertainers and sport stars.
The revue’s cast included veteran actors Mark ‘Bones’ Martin, Rodney Campbell, and Mair alongside young bright up-comers such as Akeem Mignott, media personalities Simone Clarke- Cooper and Patria-Kaye Aarons, Christina Starz, Craig McNally, comedienne Dalton Spence and introduced social media sensation Rushaine ‘Dutty Berry’ Berry in his theatrical debut.
According to Mair, a number of new scenes will be added and current ones expanded to reflect the full scope of what has been happening in Jamaica for the entire year.
“The nature of a revue allows certain leeway to improvise and expand our material to comment on current issues. Since our original staging in August, our country has experienced quite a few significant happenings that we will be commenting on in a hilarious but tasteful manner,” Mair commented.
“Patrons who have already seen Laff It Off can come back and enjoy all the elements they loved before and still be treated to new material,” Mair concluded.
