Colahar mulls second Sakura Express restaurant in MoBay
Just over four months after Sakura Express Restaurant opened its doors in the spacious Fairview Shopping Complex in Montego Bay, the owners are busy planning to open another restaurant in the resort city.
“We are now thinking of opening another restaurant in Montego Bay because of the success of this location [Fairview Shopping Complex].
The response from the one we have now is so great that we believe that very soon we will open it,” said Horace Colahar, the managing director of Sakura Express Restaurant.
The restaurant at Fairview is Colahar’s fourth such business venture on the island, having already established locations in the Sagicor Mall in Spanish Town, Destiny Mall in Portmore, and Eight Rivers Town Centre in Ocho Rios. But, Colahar told the Jamaica Observer West recently, sales at the Montego Bay location have surpassed those of any of the other locations.
He believes that the wide variety of tasty dishes, coupled with good service, great prices and excellent location have helped to drive sales at Fairview.
“The theme of the restaurant is Asian fusion and what we are doing is to bring fine dining in a fast-food setting because the dishes are really what you would get in a fine dining restaurant, but it is now being done like fast food with fast food prices,”
Colahar explained, adding that “we offer a wide variety of dishes — Asian dishes and also some favourite local ones.”
The menu includes coffee pork, sweet and sour pork, sesame pork, roast pork, a wide array of chicken and seafood dishes prepared by Asian chefs.
Some 15 persons are currently employed at the restaurant which opens from 10:00 am to 9:30 pm weekdays, and closes at 10:30 pm on weekends.
