Six Reggae Boyz make CFU All-Star 11
CATHERINE HALL, St James — Champions Jamaica got six spots on the Caribbean Football Union’s Caribbean Cup All-Star team that was named following the end of the eight-day tournament heald in Montego Bay earlier this week.
Goalkeeper Andre Blake, defenders Alvas Powell and Jermaine Taylor, midfeilders Jobi McAnuff and Rodolph Austin and striker Darren Mattocks were named to the All-Star 11 by the CFU’s Technical Committee.
Jamaica also had three individual awards in the tournament — Austin was named MVP for the second time, Blake got the Golden Glove award, while Mattocks, who scored three goals, shared the Golden Boot award with Trinidad’s Kevin Molino and Haiti’s Kevens Fils Belfort.
Molino and Belfort were also named to the All-Star team, along with Haitian defender Kim Jaggy, Trinidad’s central defender Daneil Cyrus as well as Cuba’s Yenier Marquez.
Jamaica won their sixth title after beating Trinidad 4-3 on penalties in the final on Tuesday night after they played out a 0-0 draw after regulation and extra time.
