Heavy rains force abandonment of Pride vs Franchise
LUCAS STREET, Barbados (CMC) — Persistent heavy overnight and morning rain has forced the abandonment of the opening day of the second-round match in the WICB Professional Cricket League between Barbados Pride and Jamaica Franchise here yesterday.
A trough system moved across the area late Thursday and continued into yesterday, bringing heavy rains and flooding to parts of the island.
Umpires Gregory Brathwaite and Joel Wilson called off play around 11:15 am, with the Windward Sports Club ground saturated by water.
Play is scheduled to start on today’s second day at 9:30 am.
Barbados’ opening game against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force last weekend was also affected by rain, with only 14.4 overs possible on the final day at Queen’s Park Oval with the visitors chasing victory.
