DJ Chuckie all set for Heineken party
SURINAMESE DJ and producer Chuckie is fired up for his debut performance at Heineken World Premiere at Fort Rocky in Port Royal, Kingston, on Saturday.
“I’ve been looking forward to doing a show in Jamaica for a long time now! I was born in Suriname, so I’m a Caribbean kid. Electronic music became really popular in the Caribbean so I can imagine that people in Jamaica have started their own electronic music scene,” he said.
DJ Chuckie has played on almost every continent and is ready to give Jamaica a piece of his ‘Dirty Dutch’ concept.
“You can imagine that I grew up with all kinds of music including reggae and dancehall. Jamaica has always been a very important source of inspiration for me. I can’t wait to play my set in Jamaica. I’m ready!” he said.
“I don’t even think the world realises how much talent lives in this region. It’s only a matter of time now. That’s also the main reason why I started the Electric Festival in Aruba. Electronic music needs a solid home in the Caribbean,” he continued.
The disc jock said he has relaunched his Dirty Dutch label and is working on a new musical sound.
“I’m working on this new crossover sound I call Traphall, a mix between trap and dancehall,” he said.
The Heineken Premiere event will also showcase renowned soca artiste Bunji Garlin and wife Fay-Ann Lyons, Spragga Benz, as well as DJ Nicco, Chromatic and DJ Kamal Bankay.
