Commissioner lauds investigators, ODPP in murder conviction of ex-cop
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Commissioner of Police, Dr Carl Williams yesterday commended the investigating officers in the 2012 murder of taxi-man Delroy Frame, which resulted in a conviction of an ex-police officer and his sister.
According to the police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) the officers collectively put together a solid case, which resulted in the conviction of both accused, while displaying the highest level of professionalism and great commitment to the task.
“The tremendous effort exerted by those involved must be commended. I am heartened by their efforts as we seek to get crime under control and put solid cases before the courts, so that justice may be served. Congratulations to the dedicated and competent officers involved in this investigation,” Dr Williams said.
The Commissioner also hailed the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, “whose sterling case management and guidance to the investigative team was crucial to securing yesterday’s conviction,” CCU said.
Former police constable Jeffrey Peart and his sister, Roxanne Peart, were convicted Wednesday in the St Ann Circuit Court for the murder of Frame, committed on Saturday, May 19 2012 in Wild Cane district, St Ann.
It was reported that Frame’s headless body was found near his burnt out car. Evidence gathered by the police led to the arrest and charge of the Peart siblings.
They will be sentenced on Friday, December 12.
