Around the Entertainment Globe
5 – Kim Kardashian attempted to break the internet last week, when she posted a sneak peak of her photoshoot for Paper Magazine. In one of the raunchy photos she was completely nude, save for black gloves and a pearl choker. She also released other photos from the shoot, including one in which she successfully balanced a glass of champagne on her derriere. As expected, there has been a lot of debate over the weekend about the appropriateness of the photographs, considering that she has a young daughter and a husband.
4 – Known as the grandfather of American comedy, Bill Cosby has been receiving negative media attention lately. The latest disappointment for the comedian came when his appearance on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman was cancelled. It is suspected that this is due to sexual assault accusations by multiple women, one of which is almost two decades old. Cosby has never been officially charged for any of these offences, but that did not stop fellow comedian Hannibal Buress for calling him a “rapist” last month, which sparked the recurrence of the issue.
3 – After 14 years on air, BET’s daily entertainment show will no longer be televised. The last instalment will be aired on December 19, 2014, after which it will only be featured on digital platforms. The crew still plans to cover major entertainment events and host their parties, but the change to digital only is still a big one. The show has hosted most, if not all, the big names in the entertainment industry for over a decade, not just those in America, but from all over the world.
2 – Five-member boy-band One Direction released their fourth studio album yesterday, November 17. Flatly titled Four, the album has 12 tracks, many of which are co-written and performed with other artistes. The lead track for the album Steal My Girl, since its release at the end of September has been paving the way for the album, and peaked at number 13 on Billboard. Its follow-up hit is expected to be Night Changes. Some critics, after reviewing the album, are saying that the band has lost its touch, and the album is their worst yet, but the final say remains with the young 1-D fans.
1 – Locally, animosity is brewing among several artistes and personalities. Things started heating up when Masicka voiced a song, The Truth, which was aimed at Aidonia. Shortly after, Masicka left from the Konshens-led Subkonshus music group. He then released a single that strongly appears to be targeted at Konshens and the rest of the group, hinting at monkey business. Demarco then got himself into the story, taking his turn to pounce on Konshens and his group using the song Lime Chip. Konshens, who is yet to retaliate lyrically to either jabs, uploaded a two-part video to his YouTube channel, giving his stance. The Konz876 shoeline, which was co-owned by Corey Todd and Konshens, has been suddenly discontinued, but Konshens mainetains that he and Corey are not at loggerheads.
