Portland’s artistic talents on display
THE recently held Portland art show dubbed ‘The Finest Art with a Touch of Magic’ is being hailed a success as local artists displayed a wide variety of art and craft items.
The items which were on display at the show, held at Cajanas Cafe in Port Antonio, included woven baskets, T-shirts and a wide assortment of candles.
The youngest artist with items on display was eight-year-old Omaron Reid who received great commendation for his painting entitled ‘Climbing the Mountain’.
Organiser of the event Mark Bell expressed delight at the successful staging of the event.
“There are a number of young artists in the parish who have got some exposure today and we hope that they will not give up but continue to do more art work and develop their talent so it will eventually benefit them,” he told the Jamaica Observer North East.
Bell said he hopes the event will become an annual affair.
