Rivoli visit den of wounded Humble Lion
Having removed Craig Butler as technical director recently, Humble Lion will be hoping to turn their fortunes around when they host Rivoli United at Effortville Community Centre at 5:00 pm when the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) continues today.
Butler, who replaced Geoffrey Maxwell in March this year, will however, still be active with the club, working with chairman Mike Henry in another undisclosed capacity, the Jamaica Observer has learnt.
This will be the third game since that shake up for a Humble Lion team on four points from eight games with just one victory this season, and Rivoli United could be the springboard that they need to really kick start their season.
Today’s game could see the injury-plagued Devon Hodges of Humble Lion lining up against his old club Rivoli United for the first time since making the move this summer.
But his replacement Cory Burke has been on fire for Rivoli United, netting seven times to be the second top scorer, and he will have to be policed if Humble Lion intend to secure three points.
Meanwhile, having surged to the top of the league, Waterhouse FC will be looking to extend that advantage when they host Boys’ Town at Drewsland starting at 6:00 pm.
Waterhouse on the back of three consecutive wins have moved to the top of the league with 19 from eight games. They hold a two-point advantage and with Boys’ Town struggling in 10th spot on seven points, they are favoured to secure another win.
Waterhouse will be without three keys players in Hughan Gray, Nicholy Findlayson and Romario Campbell, who have been called to the national set up for the CFU Caribbean Cup set to start on Tuesday.
However, top marksman Jermaine Anderson, who has been omitted from the Reggae Boyz squad, is available and always dangerous.
Boys’ Town have lost three of their last four games and are wounded and dangerous and cannot for one minute be taken lightly as they hope to really kick start their season.
Second-placed Cavalier on 17 points travel to Frome for a 3:00 pm appointment with fourth-placed Reno on 11 points, eager to rebound after losing their unbeaten tag last week.
It should be a close affair, but with top striker Craig Foster absent due to national duties, Reno will find it hard to replace him up front. The former national Under-20 player has scored 10 of Reno’s 16 goals this season.
At the Edward Seaga Stadium, home team Tivoli Gardens in seventh spot on 11 points host struggling Sporting Central Academy, two places and four points below them.
Tivoli Gardens have won three of their last four games and seem to have found their rhythm and will be hard to beat at home. But the Clarendon-based Sporting Central having enough quality, they could upset the applecart.
At the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, the inconsistent Arnett Gardens, in sixth spot on 11 points, will be under pressure to win when they play 11th-placed Barbican, who are on six points.
Arnett Gardens have lost their last three games and coach Jerome Waite will be looking over his shoulders knowing that this is a club with minimal levels of tolerance.
On Monday night, third-placed Harbour View, on 14 points, host champions Montego Bay United, who are in eighth place on 10 points.
