Manchester High bow out of title race
CLARENDON PARK, Clarendon — Manchester High are out of the running for any senior schoolboy football honours this season after a come-from-behind 1-1 draw with Kemps Hill in their rescheduled ISSA/LIME daCosta Cup quarter-final Zone Q game at Juici Field yesterday.
The draw left Manchester High on one point after two games, having been beaten 0-1 in the first set of games by Group leaders Dinthill Technical, and cannot now make progress.
Kemps Hill are also on one point and have no hopes of moving ahead also.
Yesterday, Rakeen Hope fired Kemps Hill into the lead after just five minutes and it took the fancied Manchester High another 69 minutes to draw level through Isamnia Cohen in the 74th.
Manchester High came into the season with high hopes but were thrown off course when they were docked six points after using a player that was later ruled to be ineligible.
They ended up second in their first-round zone to Mile Gully High and then finished second to defending champions St Elizabeth Technical in the Inter-zone round.
Two-time champions Dinthill Technical are on six points and need only a draw against Kemps Hill tomorrow to advance to the semi-final as group winners.
Godfrey Stewart High are on three points and must beat Manchester High next Wednesday and hope for a miracle win for Kemps Hill over Dinthill if they are to advance.
