Harbour View stop Waterhouse march with 2-1 victory
HARBOUR View checked Waterhouse’s intended march to the top of the Red Stripe Premier League’s (RSPL) standings with a stomping 2-1 defeat in a rescheduled game at the Drewsland Mini Stadium on Wednesday.
It was the first time that Waterhouse were playing an official game on their home ground this season and the first time that they were losing in the RSPL since losing to Montego United in the 2013/2014 final for the championship.
The victory moved Harbour View into a more championship-challenging position on 11 points in third, while Waterhouse hold a firm five-point second with 16 points, one less than leaders Cavalier who were also beaten by a similar margin in a home game by Tivoli Gardens at Stadium East on Monday night.
Talismanic striker Jermaine Anderson put Waterhouse ahead in the sixth minute, but it was only flattery to deceive as Harbour View brushed aside the early setback. They then settled in for a competitive afternoon’s game with telling effect by weathering an opening stormy period from their hosts before fashioning a well earned come-from-behind victory with goals from Rannique Muir 35th and Rennico Clarke 58th.
