BT pip Reno with late Thomas strike
BOYS’ Town registered only their second win in eight games in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) so far this season after they edged former leaders Reno 1-0 at Collie Smith Drive on Sunday.
Rafiek Thomas struck in minute 85 by scrambling the ball across the line from a Marvin Stewart cross that moved Boys’ Town to seven points and eased the Collie Smith Drive outfit’s anxiety of being one from the bottom of the 12-team RSPL standings.
A much relieved coach Andrew Price said: “We dominated play for very long periods. We had superior possession and you have to make that possession count. It took us very late to get the winner, but I thought that we were very industrious”.
“We have not been playing badly, but we were just not getting the results to match our work ethic. It did, however, pay off today (Sunday). All that we need to do is to keep working and reap similar win results from our efforts,” Price added.
Reno’s coach Patrick Graham was disappointed with the final result, leaving Boys’ Town with at least a point. “There were certain aspects of the game that I was comfortable with, as we came here for at least a draw. But a lapse in concentration to give up a soft goal so late in the game is a tough pill to swallow,” he murmured.
