Golfer Sean Morris takes Heroes’ Classic by storm
National golf representative Sean Morris combined skill, talent and home course knowledge to secure a win in the Heroes’ Weekend Classic.
The tournament was supported by more than 60 persons, most of whom competed over two days at the challenging Cinnamon Hill Golf Course. Morris’ first- round score of one under par, 71 was accomplished with four birdies. His second-day score was two under par, 70, with another four birdies added.
Morris ended the event three under par and 21 strokes ahead of his closest competitor in the 0-6 group, Robert Chin (162), and Justin Burrowes was third in the category with 164. John O’Donoghue was fourth on 165.
The Montego Bay-based players made a sweep in the 7-11 category. Vinroy Dell captured first place with scores of 75 and 79 (154), followed by Glenroy Stephenson (161), who was second. Sebert Walker Jr, national junior representative, finished third in this group.
Cedric Blair, Red Stripe’s managing director, finished first in the 12-17 men’s category with 168. Bruno Kruijer (171) was second and Andre Foote (175) third.
Phillip Wilson topped the super senior group with 79 and 77 (156), JGA President Peter Chin finished second with 162 and Larry Stewart was third (165).
Tiana Cruz finished the Classic on 152 ahead of Sherisse Walker (171) and Michele Gabay (174). Murine Blake was first in the ladies 13+ category. Crystal Gayle was second with 185 and Dianne Hudson finished third with 192.
In the junior segment, Tristan Brown took the 11-13 title with 173. Luke Lindo was first in the 14-15 category and Ethan Jones topped the 16-17 category.
