Harbour View blank Sporting Central 2-0
HARBOUR View FC picked up a few cheap points at the expense of the listless, 10-man Sporting Central Academy after their 2-0 win in their Red Stripe Premier League clash at the Harbour View mini stadium yesterday.
In other games, Barbican defeated Humble Lion 1-0 at Effortville Community Centre, and Waterhouse steamrolled Reno 3-1 at Frome Complex.
Second-half substitute Francios Swaby, who along with Camaal Reid looked focused enough to carry the fight to their hosts, was sent packing by referee Karl Tyrell after receiving a second bookable offence three minutes into time added for indecent and abusive language. He was earlier booked in the 68th minute.
Neither team looked impressive, but Harbour View took advantage of some poor play from the Clarendon-based team to score a goal in each half.
After failing to get on target from some promising moves, Harbour View eventually broke the deadlock in minute 34. Jermie Lynch took advantage of a mild skirmish in front of the Sporting Central goal area to squeeze a low shot out of the reach of goalkeeper Allien Whittaker, that skimmed his near post.
This still did not do much to awaken the visitors from their slumber until Ranique Muir hammered past Whittaker for Harbour View’s second in minute 66. After this and a few second-half changes, Sporting Central began to show some urgency to make their presence felt. But this was only sporadic and never seriously threatened a Harbour View victory.
This was only the second win for the Andrew Hines-coached Harbour View for the season from six matches to move them to eight points. The Nigel Stewart-coached Sporting Central Academy were playing their third game and remain two places from the rung on three points from two defeats and a sole win.
