Garvey Maceo in LIME Super Cup
GARVEY Maceo High have been declared winners of Zone Eight of the Inter-zone round of the ISSA/LIME daCosta Cup football competition following Tuesday’s game against Kemps Hill that was called off prematurely due to crowd invasion of the field at Jamalco.
An ISSA official told the Jamaica Observer yesterday that Garvey Maceo were not at fault for the premature stoppage and as such were declared the zone winners and will join the seven other zone winners in the ISSA/LIME Super Cup.
Garvey Maceo had gone into Tuesday’s game on six points after winning their two previous Inter-zone games and needed only a point to win the zone.
Kemps Hill scored late in the game to equalise at 1-1 when fans invaded the field and despite efforts to get them to clear the field, they refused and referee Courtney Campbell ‘blew off’ the game.
Kemps Hill are to face an ISSA Disciplinary Committee between this afternoon and tomorrow morning.
Garvey Maceo will now face Charlie Smith High in the second game of a LIME Super Cup double-header at Sabina Park on Saturday.
The other seven Super Cup qualifiers are Cornwall College, Godfrey Stewart, STETHS, Clarendon College, Old Harbour, Dinthill Tech and St James High.
