Foster’s treble propels Reno past Rivoli United
FROME, Westmoreland — Craig Foster continued his torrid scoring pace early in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) season as he scored a three-timer yesterday to lead Reno FC to a big 5-1 thrashing of Rivoli United in rainy conditions at the Frome Sports Grounds in Westmoreland.
Foster also converted two second-half penalties in his first Premier League three-timer as Denmark Gillings and substitute Aldane Grant also scored in Reno’s biggest scoring output of the season so far.
Foster’s tally helped him to extend his lead to eight goals, as Reno FC recorded their second win of the season, both at home to improve to eight points from five games.
It was the first loss in the Premier League for Rivoli United after going four games unbeaten and they are stuck on eight points.
It was the second time in four days that the promoted Reno FC were beating Rivoli United at home after dumping them out of the Flow Champions Cup knockout on Thursday.
Gillings gave Reno FC the lead in the 41st minute and Foster got his first in the 45th minute on the stroke of half-time.
Foster made it 3-0 in the 50th minute when he converted his first penalty, while Grant, who replaced Junior Neil in the 76th minute, scored four minutes later to make it 4-0.
Foster completed his treble in the 87th minute before Ross Burton got a consolation for Rivoli in time added at the end of regulation.
