Six western-based footballers named in national Under-17 squad
Six players from western Jamaica, including three from Rusea’s High, have been included in the final training squad for the national Under-17 team to represent Jamaica at the Caribbean Football
Union Men’s Under-17 Final qualifying round for the FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held in
Haiti later this month.
Deshane Beckford, Tavon Barnes and Stephen Malcolm from Rusea’s High, Peter-Lee Vassell and Venton Evans from Cornwall College and Charles Grant from Muschett High were invited to the 24-member squad that began training on Monday.
The camp will continue until October 18 when the team departs for Haiti.
Jamaica which topped its qualifying Group will seek to take one of five spots which will go on to the CONCACAF Under-17 Championships to be held in Honduras.
Jamaica is drawn in Group B and will play Martinique on October 20, Guadeloupe on October 22 and Cuba on October 24.
