Headliners excite LIME Comedy Café
MAIN acts Wally British and Leighton Smith turned up the heat at the LIME Comedy Café at South Beach Café venue in St Andrew, on Wednesday.
With a large crowd on hand, patrons enjoyed rib-tickling anecdotes from a diverse line-up which included Sarge and Apache Kid and Owen ‘Blakka’ Ellis.
Before the headliners, hosts Ity and Fancy Cat engaged patrons with giveaways courtesy of sponsor LIME.
Human beat box, Mixing Lab, whipped the crowd into a frenzy with interpretations of Tracy Chapman’s Baby Can I Hold You, Lorde’s Royal, Marvia Providence’s Hear My Cry oh Lord, and Michael Jackson’s Will You Be There.
The duo of Sarge and Apache Kid was lukewarm, but comedian Leighton Smith bowled over his audience, leaving many in stitches.
No subject was spared. He took on entertainers, government officials, as well as the chikungunya debacle.
Orlando-based YouTube blogger-turned-comedian Wally British turned things up a notch. The burly comedian, who is an assistant administrator at an assisted living facility in Florida, was a crowd pleaser.
She used her charm and wit to connect with the audience. Her timely jabs at men also went down well.
“I was actually being myself while on the stage. I did no form of rehearsal it was just free styling. I am happy that I am doing something that makes me happy and that brings smiles to the faces of people,” said Wally British, whose given name is Suzanne Williams.
Veteran comedian/actor Owen ‘Blakka’ Ellis closed out the night’s proceedings with an entertaining set.
The LIME Comedy Café is held on the last Wednesday of each month.
