Myers in seventh heaven
IT was the trio of Thomas Issa, William Myers, and Colin Daley Jr that provided the action at Sunday’s meet seven of the Jamaica Karting Association’s championship season at the Palisadoes International Raceway, Kingston.
All three drivers put in exciting performances to varying individual results as they battled each other in the Rotax Senior.
The man of the match, so to speak, was Myers, who moved into the Rotax Senior class earlier this year. Showing no fear to the more accomplished pair of Issa and Daley Jr, he grabbed second place in race final one, chased to the finish line by Issa. In Rotax Senior race final two he managed to seal the deal with a win, keeping the form he’d been displaying all event.
“I think my driving style is similar to Thomas,” Myers told Auto.
One would have thought that Issa, on his way to a third Abe Zaidie Trophy, would have opted for a tactical day, but found himself involved in several incidents throughout the meet from which he’d have to recover.
“Believe me, I was pushing, but I’m not going to do anything to jeopardise my championship,” Issa said.
His Rotax Senior race finals first and second places didn’t come easily.
“They were pretty rough out there,” he said.
The always electric Daley Jr delivered several stellar moments, but couldn’t put together a consistent performance over race length as he sought speed from his kart.
“I’ve been having challenges with this kart from I got it, but once we work it out I know we can challenge for the lead,” he explained.
In Comer 50, Zachary Sirgany continues to interrupt the points battle between Ryan Lue and Mattea Issa as he took both race finals. In Comer 80 Zander Williams returned after a short break to also grab two race final victories over the class regulars Lue and Ryan Chisholm.
Senna Summerbell took Minimax race final one and Mark Moodie race final two. Rotax Junior wins went one apiece to Joshua Sirgany and Jonathan Law. Peter Moodie Sr continued to dominate Rotax Masters.
