Local fans vent anger, disappointment with performance of Princess Popstar

The Complete Racing Guide shares some of the views received from our readers. Please note some of the comments have been edited while some were not posted.
* Watched the race… looked like a very poor ride, bad judgement of pace by the jockey. Owners of horse should be very upset tonight.
* To say that this was an unusual race is the understatement of the century. Why did the owners of Princess Popstar choose to go with Wilmer Galviz over a jockey of the calibre of Winston Griffiths who knows the filly inside out? I hope they have learned a valuable lesson from this fiasco. They should have observed what the owner of Bigman In Town did in last year’s Trinidad Derby; although he is a Trini, he chose Javier Castellano to ride his horse over the Trinidad colony of riders. Bring the filly back home, now!!!
* Just watched the race on YouTube. I don’t have a problem with the ride that Princess Popstar received. People have to realise that Momentum is a very well bred horse and is a colt. I don’t believe that Princess Popstar could’ve beaten Momentum if she was closer to the pace &/or was ridden by ‘Fanna’ Griffiths.
* I’m very disappointed. The owners should have gone for any of the Jamaican jockeys who have ridden her (Percy Williams or Winston Griffiths).
* What could cause jockey Galviz to have her last but two for almost the entire trip, and only make his move at the half mile when Momentum had already flown the coop? Even Stevie Wonder could see that Princess Popstar didn’t run her usual race.
* Not possible, Princess Popstar, 15 or so lengths behind 1:17.0 for six furlongs, not even with one ‘foot’.
* So many lengths off the pace, unfamiliar position, sand in her face for the first time, yet she (Princess Popstar) lost by just over three lengths. Lots to think about.
