Holmwood whip Porus 36-6 in ISSA Junior Netball League
FORMER champions Holmwood Technical whipped Porus 36-6 as the 2014 Digicel/ISSA Rural High schools Junior Netball League got under way last week with several matches.
Holmwood coach Carlene Graham-Powell said she expects great things from her school.
“I am hoping to see them doing great things this year and move to the second round,” Graham-Powell said.
Holmwood have won the Rural Junior League title on two occasions.
Meanwhile, Titchfield High who have dominated Zone L for the past two years under the guidance of Winston Wilson, made their presence felt with two crushing wins over Port Antonio and in the junior (45-8) and senior (88-8) leagues.
Wilson said he is hoping for some stiffer competition in Zone L as only a few teams are capable of challenging his players.
“The only team I think will give us competition is Yallahs, but Seaforth High have returned after not competing last year. However, I don’t know if they will be coming with two strong teams after their non-participation last season,” Wilson noted.
In the Junior League action last week, Godfrey Stewart beat Maud McLeod 20-19, DeCarteret College defeated Belair High 26-1, while Guy’s Hill got the better of McGrath High 15-9.
In the Senior League, Green Island High defeated Little London 29-8, Godfrey Stewart cruised past Maud McLeod 28-2, and Albert Town whipped York Castle 37-4.
