Her Last Cry for St James
AFTER seeing a production of Dahlia Harris’s Her Last Cry at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts on the Mona campus in July, director/actress Susan Beadle was extremely blown away.
She left the St-Andrew-based theatre with one goal in mind: to share the story with others.
Her desire is coming to fruition as the production is scheduled for the Fairfield Theatre in St James from September 26 to October 26.
“The plays speaks to the issue of domestic violence which is an issue that is under discussed. Especially, the victims they feel a sense of shame. We tend to be very crictical of them, questioning why they just don’t leave,” Beadle told the Jamaica Observer.
Harris said after speaking with Beale, she gave her the green light.
“Based on her recommendation, the artistic team in Montego Bay made an initial approach. Having read the script, they finalised staging of the production,” said Harris.
Beadle, co-director of To The Finish, hopes the play will have people discussing the issue.
In addition to Beadle, Her Last Cry stars Nadean Rawlins, Tony Rodney, and vlogger Carla Moore.
