An attractive battle between Portmore Strikers FC and Waterhouse FC will highlight Zone A fixtures as the second round of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF)/Sherwin Williams Women’s Premier League kicks off today.

All games are set to begin at 3:30 pm.

Waterhouse FC should be the more positive team going into the game after recording a 5-0 victory when the two teams met in their first outing of the season.

The Xavier Gilbert-conditioned Waterhouse FC are currently in second position on 13 points and will be seeking to shrug off their disappointing 1-1 draw against neighbours Olympic Gardens.

However, Portmore Strikers (12 points) are growing in confidence and have proven that they are no fluke. They will be poised to exact revenge from the home advantage as they take aim at the leaders.

Leaders Barbican (18 points) collected the first silverware of the season after defeating GC Foster College in the mid-season finals.

The defending champions should continue their unbeaten run when they take on the hapless Rangers FC (one point), who are rooted at the bottom of the table.

Third-placed Arnett Gardens (12 points) will do battle against fifth-placed Trelawny Women’s Academy (four points), while Olympic Gardens FC will be idle today.

Meanwhile, GC Foster College (18 points) have assumed sole leadership of Zone B, and are poised to extend their lead when they take on sixth-placed Boys’ Town Wildcats (one point), while fifth-placed St James Women’s Academy (seven points) will host cellar dwellers Real Morant Strikers (one point).

In the other Zone B fixture, second-placed Los Perfectos FC (15 points) will tackle an ever improving UWI Women’s outfit (12 points) who are now in third place. Fourth-placed Harbour View FC (seven points) will be the zone’s resting team.
