STETHS join Lacovia, CC, Cedric Titus for third straight win
MAGGOTTY, St Elizabeth — Defending champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) led three other schools to their third straight wins in the ISSA/LIME daCosta Cup football competition yesterday.
STETHS, Lacovia, Clarendon College and Cedric Titus are perfect through three games, but Marcus Garvey Technical, Mile Gully and Charlemont High lost in the bids for their third straight wins.
Donjay Smith scored his sixth goal of the season on his 19th birthday and Romeo Wright added the other as STETHS beat Maggotty High 2-0.
Lacovia High continued their good start edging Newell High 1-0 to stay in touch with STETHS, both on nine points and setting up a mouth-watering clash on Wednesday.
Munro College, however, continued their poor start, losing for the second straight time after going in front before being beaten 3-2 by BB Coke in yet another upset. On Wednesday Munro gave up a two-goal lead to lose to Lacovia at home.
Clarendon College edged Lennon 1-0 to lead Zone H, while Cedric Titus High beat Marcus Garvey for the first time in four matches, winning 2-0 to take over the lead in Zone I.
Charlemont’s great start ended after a 4-0 thrashing to Ewarton High, but lead Zone K on goal difference.
Mile Gully’s winning streak ended at two games as they were beaten 3-0 by Manchester High, who won back-to-back games to start their season.
Ricardo Dennis scored three goals for Glenmuir High in their 3-1 win over Denbigh High, while Garvey Maceo High were 2-0 winners over Porus.
Kashief Brown scored four goals as Green Pond won for the first time this season, spanking Irwin High 7-1 in Zone A.
Cornwall College are the leaders with six points form two wins after Jourdane Fletcher scored twice to beat Anchovy High 5-1.
Godfrey Stewart also stayed perfect with a 2-1 win over Grange Hill in the only Zone D game played yesterday.
