Wolmer’s, JC roll on
WOLMER’S Boys continue their good early goalscoring form when they overran Spanish Town 4-0 in their second ISSA/LIME Schoolboy Manning Cup Group E football match at Heroes’ Circle yesterday.
Following up on their 3-0 opening of the season against Clan Carthy it did not take the Heroes’ Circle lads long before they increased their scoring tally to nine, albeit against a plucky but wholly inadequate Spanish Town, who inadvertently opened the scoring with an own goal through defender Akeem Willis in the eighth minute.
Despite going ahead early in the game Wolmer’s failed to add to their good fortune and it was not until three minutes into the second half that the hosts scored a goal of their own to move the score to 2-0 through Rojay Smith.
During that half-time period Wolmer’s played splendid football but failed to score as Shaquille Henry missed no less than five easy chances from point-blank range.
However, skipper Demar Rose got in on the act and increased the score to three in minute 76.
Spanish Town made some second-half changes and began to test the Wolmer’s resolve but lacked the will to score and in the 90th+ minute Wolmer’s won a penalty that was duly converted by Chavez Brooks to complete the scoring.
