Former champs rout Campion 11-1
MANY-TIME champions St George’s College pulverised Campion College 11-1 at Winchester Park in the ISSA/LIME Manning Cup competition yesterday to move to six points in Group A.
Campion College remain without a point.
Five players found the net for the rampant hosts, who led 7-0 at the half-time break.
Shevon Stewart and national Under-17 player Alex Marshall each scored a treble in the rout. Stewart scored in the fourth, 26th and 40th minutes, while Marshall struck in minutes 35, 58 and 67.
Gregory Messam, the son of the former Reggae Boyz left-back of the same name, hit home a pair of accomplished penalty kicks in the 19th and 22nd minutes.
Substitute Damani Harris also notched a double, firing into the goal in the 64th and 75th minutes.
Amoy Brown scored the other for St George’s in the 34th minute in a smooth display on a lush-green playing surface.
Campion’s Jervaze Green hit a consolation in the 71st minute.
St George’s College assistant coach Marcel Gayle praised his players for putting in a “workman-like performance” against the hapless Campion team.
Campion’s assistant coach Garfield Nesbitt conceded his team was overpowered and outplayed by a “stronger” outfit.
