Brown finishes 4th in Long Bay Golf tourney
OCHO RIOS, JAMAICA — Jamaica’s golfing ace Wesley Brown closed out his 2014 American Golf Association Pro season with a fourth-place finish at the Long Bay Tournament in South Carolina yesterday.
Struggling with the tough conditions, Brown carded a 1 under par 71 on Wednesday, but followed up with a 1 over par 73 on Thursday to close on even par for the tournament and 10 shots behind winner, American Crawford Reeves, who had rounds of 69 and 65 to close on -10.
Brown had five birdies in his opening round, but was undone by a double bogey on the back nine. He ripped off four birdies in the second round, but again had another double bogie.
The Sandals Golf Club employee finished the season with two wins and two second places for what has been his most impressive run to date. His play has earned him promotion to the tougher NGA Pro Series for next season.
“I am very happy with my improvement this season,” noted a beaming Brown. “I have improved in all facets of my game, but most of all in strategy that I employ during my rounds.”
Brown said he is excited about next season and is looking forward to what will be a greater challenge.
He was full of praise for his sponsors Sandals Resorts International and the team of professionals who have helped him to achieve his success.
Sandals Resorts has been Brown’s sponsors for the past two years.
