Crunch time!
WITH another four weeks to go in the Jamaica Observer/Gymkhana Absolute Fitness Challenge and the second weigh-in set for tomorrow, Francine White is leading the pack quite convincingly. Her closest rivals are Eileen Wapp and Sandrine Waite, while this reporter is trailing behind the group.
White is now on 64 points while Wapp and Waite are locked on 60 points each. Trevor Dixon is next on 59 points and is followed closely by Jodi Jackson, who is on 58 points. Maureen Milbourn has amassed 56 points while Loraine Moses is on 54 points. At last count, this reporter had only managed a total 40 points.
After tomorrow’s weigh-in, White, whose goal is to lose 15 pounds, will either lengthen her lead or face stiff competition from her closest rivals.
The other challengers have been working hard and just as consistently, so after tomorrow, we will know if Jackson lost the two inches off her waist, whether this reporter met her five-pound weight loss goal, and if Moses reduced her body fat by two per cent. The verdict will also be back on whether Dixon lost the eight pounds that was his target and Waite will have to demonstrate that she can squat eight reps with 25 pounds on each side.
Sounds easy enough, right?
After the first weigh-in, Waite and White shared the top spot on 41 points each. Since then, White has managed to separate herself from the group, but will she be able to maintain that lead, especially since Waite is a mere four points behind her?
Whatever tomorrow’s outcome is, the challengers will still have another four weeks to prove themselves and achieve their third and final goal, which will be revealed in the Sunday Observer next week.
Ultimately, they have taken on the challenge to be better versions of themselves, embracing fitness and healthy eating habits. However, receiving the inaugural “I’M GYMKFit” trophy is something else to be had.
So who will it be?
