Sandals extends its reach in Lilliput
MONTEGO BAY, St James — OVER 110 residents in the community of Lilliput took advantage of services offered at a free health and social services clinic hosted by Sandals Resorts in the Montego Bay Region last Friday.
The clinic, which is in its second year, was held at the Leanora Morris Basic School and geared at expanding Sandals’ reach within the community of Lilliput.
Among the services offered were blood pressure and blood sugar tests, depression screening, heart checks, rapid HIV testing and counselling by the St James Health Department. Consultations with medical practitioners from the Cornwall Regional Hospital and the MoBay Hope Medical Centre were free, as well as last-minute back-to-school medicals for students.
Additionally, persons attending the clinic had access to information and services offered by the National Land Agency, the Social Development Commission, the Tax Administration Department, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the Consumer Affairs Commission and the Registrar General’s Department.
“I went to the clinic for a regular check-up and overall, I think it was a very good initiative,” said Lilliput resident, Loris Sutherland. “Not everyone has the money for a doctor’s visit these days so being able to get a free check-up and medical advice is a big help, and the convenience of having these services offered right here in our community is priceless.”
