Turn Me Loose sets the pace
Turn Me Loose from the barn of Philip Feanny is setting the trend as the two-year-old season picked up pace with the running of the five furlongs round, Terremoto Trophy last Saturday at Caymanas Park.
Racing against winners, Turn Me Loose became the first of his batch to win two races in the process beating the filly Forest Flame with Love Train finishing third. For the first four furlongs of the event, Turn Me Loose (Western Classic – Devil Woman) with Percy Williams who seems to now be the stable rider for Feanny, battled with Forest Flame before pulling away for a two and a half lengths win. The winning time of
1:00.1 on a wet track was encouraging.
Turn Me Loose still looks very green and it was noticeable that when Williams asked him for a strong effort to fight off the challenge of Forest Flame his response to the urgings of his rider was at best luke warm. He has much more scope for improvement and should improve on this effort.
Forest Flame (Forest Danger – Bounty Hall) trained by Wayne Parchment ran her heart out but just didn’t have enough when the colt Turn Me Loose found an extra half gear. She ran well and with the expected development will improve and go on to better things. Forest Flame is from the first crop of stallion Forest Danger.
With the valuable Supreme Ventures juvenile series on the horizon, it will be interesting to see how Turn Me Loose develops and if any horse will come along to challenge him as the tw0-year-old season unfolds.
